Commonwealth Day Service Competition Message from earth
My daughter Izzy is entering the ‘Commonwealth Day Service‘ Competition, to take part in the service at Westminster Abbey on 9th March 2020, London, UK. The school children will get to meet members of the Royal Family if they/she win.
The challenge is to write a message from earth to humans to coincide with ‘The theme for the 2020 Commonwealth Day, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), and for the work of the Commonwealth more generally is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming’.
Izzy has written and produced a poem and we have added it to our Childrenswear and Earth Series collections, in our store.
Her poem reads:
Message from earth
my ice caps are melting
polar bears are losing their homes
my rainforests are being chopped down
and the trees are on fire
my oceans are being poisoned,
choking with plastic
i’m getting a temperature,
but you keep polluting my air
this is all your doing,
now you must put it right
Take action now!
turn off lights when not in use
reduce, reuse and recycle everything!
use your car less, do more exercise
eat less meat, more fruit and vegetables
protect all animals stop deforestation
respect your precious home,
make me proud
